Oral semester project blog entry two(week5) -My favourite musician is....

There are heaps of different kinds of music in the world. Among them what I am really keen to listen to is the 'hip-hop' genre. Because it makes me feel more comfortable and it makes me happy when I listen to that kind of music. The musicians who I can tell apart from that genre are Eminem, 2pac, Snoop dogg, 5o cent, Akon, Doctor Dre, Beastie boys as well as Korean hip-hop musicians such as Drunken Tiger, Bohemian X, Mc mong, MC Sniper and so on. I can not remember exactly the time, but when I was young I used to listen to Ballard and R&B, and nothing else. I mean I hardly ever listen to Ballard and R&B these days. It could be one reason that it makes me feel sad. That is why I am trying to listen to more of hip hop. I also listen to indi hip-hop because it reminds me my childhood.

Eminem, he had a really hard time when he was young unlike those people who jump to stardom in a single day with a wonderful family background and a good voice. He is white and has a great command of speedy high-tone Rap as well as a flow of Rap with originality, the critical words of a song….
The great characteristics of Eminem’s song are a unique expression and organization of a song. It is as if watching a movie, where his words act as the main features of his songs which are a concise in the development of the situation and a story-creation with transcendental imagination, wits and horror.

For example the lyrics from one of his songs "a child with a parentless family was living in a difficult way, added to his misery, when he was a victim of bullying at school, and there was no space to sleep at home so that in order to forget these agonies, he had to go out to sell some drink and drug".

Even though this sounds like a tragic drama and seems very extreme, it is described with a sense of humour, like the following lyrics "a man was chatting to his daughter with one thing and another on a car with carrying a dead wife who was killed by him".

We can see his bizarre creation of a situation described as a movie, like when he mentioned in a press release.

“The poor white trashes are as many as the black, there is no relationship with their skin and it is just realism not option”

Blog Entry One 'About me(2)'; A part of information about my hometown....

Seoul, south Korea !!!

First of all, I would like to introduce my country's capital which is Seoul, south Korea, which you can see from these photos taken every minute from sunrise to sunset. These photos are showing a day in the life of someone from Seoul and are a true picture of society as well as typical appearance in modern Korea. This was cited from my friend's blog. I strongly recommend that you guys visit his blog as well.

click the image to watch it.

This is my home An-yang city which is another satellite town in Korea. This shows a birds' eye view of my hometown from google map.
It takes only 45 minutes from Seoul to An-yang city by a car from the capital 'Seoul'. That is the my house indicated with the red line and the yellow line shows one of the biggest shopping malls in my hometown. The blue and green circles mean individually An-yang train station and An-yang technical highschool. Most apartments are highrises and my family lives on 10 story. The rest of my family has lived there since we moved into that place when I was 18. I have two sisters, a mother, and a father.

It has already been one and half a year since I came here to New Zealand. Sine then I've been living in the same place which is located in Mt.Albert in N.Z. Although I am an international student at Unitec, if it is possible I would love to settle down in N.Z. while developing my career which is architecture. Someday I will design and build my own house....And I hope I would like to live there with people who I love....

How has globalization influenced in my country?

Only a few decades ago, our country was just another under-developed country. However since the Korean war, our country has developed dramatically and is nowadays one of the most advanced countries. I guess it is based on the flood of western cultures which means globalization. No one can even deny the influences of globalisation on the economic growth of Korea.

No more than 20 years ago entertainment such as music, movies, CDs, and DVDs hardly ever existed. That is to say, it was quite hard to see them on the streets. However, after opening the door to the other countries, my country has been full of western cultures. So, we can encounter those things quite easily in public. It is not too wrong to say that our country is in the middle of globalisation.

Large corporations such as Samsung, Daewoo, LG, and Kia etc. in my country are trying to take the lead in the globalisation race. They keep trying to launch new products at all times on the world market.
